As pleasure ramps up for Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs with rising phrase of mouth of how darkly grim and scary the Nicolas Cage-starring characteristic is, the director’s subsequent mission, Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, is beginning to achieve an increasing number of consideration.
The filmmaker’s adaptation of King’s quick horror story featured in Skeleton Crew is ready to be his subsequent characteristic; it stars Theo James (The White Lotus), Tatiana Maslany (She–Hulk: Lawyer at Regulation), and Elijah Wooden (Maniac). In an interview with Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew, Perkins previewed what to anticipate, and it’s after all the surprising. “It’s gonna really feel extra like Distress or Creepshow or Gremlins or [An American Werewolf in London],” he mentioned. “It couldn’t be much less like Longlegs. The director teamed up with Neon (which can be releasing Longlegs) and James Wan’s Atomic Monster for his take, which we couldn’t be extra excited for because it seems like that boundary-pushing gateway horror vibe. “For me, ideally it’s the film that children and their dad and mom wanna go see collectively,” Perkins continued. “Individuals blow up, folks explode; it’s very excessive but it surely’s very humorous. It’s very father-son redemption, it’s very touching, it’s very nostalgic, it’s very Stephen King.”
The Monkey opens in theaters February 21, 2025. Longlegs arrives this July 12.
